Boumans By the Grand

It has been three weeks since we arrived back in Grand Rapids, and it is starting to feel normal to be here instead of strange and wonderful.  It's still a little strange and wonderful, but our time in Budapest has oh-so-quickly started feeling a bit like a dream.  We invited the students from the Hungary Semester to gather at our place on January 22, and when the first ones arrived, I said to them, "It was real!"  And I think everyone knew just how I was feeling.

Encouraged to do so by my friend Brandi, I am going to try to keep writing some reflections for a while.  In her mind, "the perceptions, observations, etc. of those who return from somewhere else are keener and more truthful then those who never leave..."  Well, I don't know if that will be true of me or not.  I really haven't ever forced myself to write when I didn't feel inspired since my college days - my now very long-gone college days.  So, I'll see how it goes.   I did, however, have an inspiration the other morning while I was out taking Sasha for a walk (both a pro and a con of being home again!).  So there will be a least one post besides this introduction.
